Ascension Sunday stands as the in between time of Easter and Pentecost. On this day, we hear the story of Jesus being taken up into heaven and the promise he leaves his bereaved disciples, “I am sending the Holy Spirit…you will not be alone.” As we stand in the in between time of the world as it is and the world as it will be when God’s kingdom come, God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven, we rest in the Spirit and the knowledge that we are not alone.
