As we read the palm-less Palm Sunday story from Luke’s Gospel and consider the differences between the Gospel narratives, we also consider the “what,” the “why,” and the “so what” of this iconic story. Luke’s Gospel, as others, relies heavily on references from the Hebrew Scriptures, particularly the prophets. We consider that Jesus, the Word of God, becomes the lens through the prophets and all of Scripture (the word of God) is interpreted…and as such we always do so with an eye towards Jesus’ (the Word of God) great command to love one another.
