On this Transfiguration Sunday we empathize with Peter who wishes to freeze the mountain top experience in time in order to avoid the pain that is to come in Jerusalem. When things change, and the change is painful, we often want to freeze life as it is with its comfort and security. As God speaks in the transfiguration story, we are reminded to listen to Jesus, the beloved, especially in times of painful change. Jesus will be there with us every step of the way.
