Today, we continue our sermon series: Illustrated Earth and we hear another story about plants and food. Leviticus 25 & 26 deal with the important concepts/practices of Sabbatical and Jubilee. Today we consider sabbatical and how God instructed the people to let the land completely rest on the seventh year. These instructions we are given to help the people successfully farm in the promised land and to help them to remember their reliance upon God. In a world that only recognizes and rewards productivity, we give thanks to God for this message of rest.
