Today we consider how God’s invitation comes to us “in that certain place” where it seems as though nothing is going the way we want or need. Jacob find’s God’s invitation in that certain place–asleep on the ground with a rock as a pillow, God comes to Jacob in a dream. Our dreams are undomesticated and there God speaks to us without our preconceived notions protestations getting in the way. God whispers into Jacob’s ear the words God whispers into ours: I am with you and will be until my promises to you are fulfilled. We are invited to think about where we’ve been and where we’re going and how God has been and is always with us.
