We begin a new church year with first Sunday of Advent. We hear about the connection between generations as we read the genealogy of Matthew 1. Following Christ’s example, we are called to look beyond what is obvious in our generational stories, to what might be missing. What are the silent stories or the details we often overlook? We pay attention to these as we begin our Advent journey to Bethlehem and the appearance of the Christ child.
