On this first Sunday after Epiphany, we hear the story of Jesus’ Baptism by John the Baptist and consider what’s in a name and what expectation our given name, and the names others place upon us, have in our lives. Through the story of John, we remember that our primary name is that of God-carrier and that all we say and do points to the God who names us, knows us and love us.
