On this second Sunday of Easter, we visit doubt and laughter. The story of Thomas is not a simplistic corrective: “don’t doubt” but a revealing of how Jesus shows up on the periphery where those who feel left out stand. There, Jesus meets them and shows his wounds and embraces them in the fold. Jesus is a liberator who calls his followers to draw others into the circle of belonging. A true follower of Jesus brings joy and life to others.
