This Sunday’s Scripture lesson from Matthew is packed with a lot of happenings that help build the story toward the beginning of Lent. Just after exiting the wilderness experience, Jesus is met with the bad news that John the Baptist has been arrested. We consider how much of our daily life is consumed with bad news and what we do with. Through Jesus, we learn that we don’t wait for things to get better, but instead find our grounding in hope even in the midst of bad news.
