Today we continue to look for God’s invitation through stories of the Hebrew Scriptures. We hear the story, from Numbers, of the five daughters of Zelophehad who petitioned Moses and God to receive the family inheritance. The story, alongside the parable of the Laborers from Matthew 20:1-16, helps us consider equality and equity and what seems fair and unfair in life. God’s concern for equity doesn’t just extend to the heavens, but to the everyday struggles of life on earth. God longs and provides for what we need.
