Today, we continue our illustrated earth sermon’s series and turn our attention to Bible stories about plants and food. As we hear the story of the feeding of the 5,000 from Mark’s Gospel, we are aware of how much we view our lives and our world through the lens of lack. We are enculturated to think this way: there is always something more we could have or get that would make us happy or make us finally feel as though we have enough. Jesus reminds us that what we have is already enough. If we bring what we already have to Christ, even if it seems pitifully small or insufficient to make a difference, Jesus will multiply that gift and its impact on the world.
Today’s message is based on Mark 6:31-44.
