Salt & Light

The power outage of a recent storm was a reminder of how much artificial light we create to fill our darkness. Our human inclination is to want to dispel the darkness along with all of the fears that seem to hide within it. Often the language of the Bible and the Christian tradition life in dualities–good/bad, up/down, light/dark–that exist in opposition to each other. Borrowing from Barbara Brown Taylor’s Book Learning to Walk in the Dark, we will explore what it might be like to befriend the dark, to sit within it and to learn from it.
