In today’s Gospel reading we hear about Jesus returning “filled with the power of the Spirit” after 40 days of fasting and battling temptation in the wilderness to proclaim his good news to the poor, the blind, the captive and the oppressed.
But for those who live daily in poverty, under oppressive living conditions, depleted and empty, it is probably tempting to think that Jesus’ proclamation is nothing more than nice words on a page.
Part of the Good News of Jesus’ Proclamation, though, is that you too can find power through whatever is broken in your life, and then go forth and be a healing presence in your home, your families, your community, your world.
